I don’t know, but I sure miss my abuelita

I don’t really know what is real and what isn’t.

But I do know that I really miss my abuelita.

My abuelita who would sneak me salt under the table.  My abuelita who came to this country with nothing. My abuelita who loved Don Francisco. My abuelita who was a master seamstress.  My abuelita who loved nature.

My abuelita whom I adored.

So interesting. I wrote a poem yesterday about my abuelita because I miss her too. We should have a “I miss my abuelita” day…even a T-shirt. I love you Maya and I love your art.

Did I ever tell you that my grandfather Miguel Rosa believed he was both a Christian and a Jew? He said he was struck by lightning and he saw a vision of the star of David superimposed on the cross. After all, Jesus was a Jew. He also taught me that the Antichrist is in the television. My family talked about him like he was crazy. I wonder if I was older when he had told me these things, I would have understood him better. I think he was gifted.
